Brain Only Autopsy Examinations

In some cases, families wish to donate their loved one’s brain to a research institute for further studies.  For example, this may include an institute that studies dementia, chronic traumatic brain injuries, or Alzheimer’s disease.  We can assist in the removal and coordinating transfer of the brain to a research institute.

Families may also wish to determine or confirm that their loved one had a certain form of dementia, which can only be ascertained through a neuropathology exam.  Such information can inform families of hereditary brain conditions.  Under these circumstances, we can coordinate a neuropathology review by a qualified neuropathologist on your behalf.
